1. CopyrightSubmitting a scientific paper to the Romanian Journal of Hepatology for publishing is subject to the fulfillment of the following statements:
Important notice to authors: The work shall not be published elsewhere in any language without the written consent of the Romanian Journal of Hepatology. The articles published in this journal are protected by copyright, which covers translation rights and the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute all of the articles printed in the journal. No material published in the journal may be stored on microfilm or videocassettes or in electronic databases and the like or reproduced photographically without the prior written permission of Romanian Journal of Hepatology. Authors guarantee that the manuscript, either entirely or partly, shall not be published elsewhere without the prior written agreement of the copyright holder (Romanian Journal of Hepatology). With respect to publication, it is required to submit a declaration signed by all authors, stating their consent to the content of the paper. Each first author shall receive three free-of-charge reprints of the published paper. Further copies may be ordered with the editors. Authors shall undertake all responsibility as to the scientific content and originality of the paper, and the Romanian Journal of Hepatology shall assume no responsibility whatsoever in this respect. 2. Preparing the manuscriptRomanian Journal of Hepatology include: original papers on clinical or fundamental research, clinical case reports, technical or methodological data, reviews, educational papers, letters to the editors, book and article reviews, announcement of the scientific events, as well as other papers upon decision of the editorial board. The papers submitted for publication shall be drawn up on A4 paper, in 12p Times New Roman fonts, 1.5 line spacing. Margins shall be 2 cm top, bottom and right and 3 cm left. Pages shall be numbered beginning with the title page. Manuscripts shall include a maximum of ten text pages for original articles, four pages for clinical case reports, two text pages for letters to the editors and one text page for notes. The editorial board should be contacted before preparing and submitting the papers in case of literature reviews, educational articles and announcements for professional events. Illustrations and tables shall be grouped in a distinct section. They shall be numbered according to the order in which they are mentioned in the text. The legends for illustrations (images) shall be drawn up explicitly on a distinct page entitled "Legends for illustrations". Only high quality images will be accepted for publication. The back of each illustration (photographs) shall bear, in pencil writing, the figure number, the name of the first author, the first four words in the title, as well as an arrow indicating the upper side of the image. In case authors add arrows or letters on the image, it is required that they observe professional quality standards. Each diagram (table) shall bear a title. Authors shall not insert images or diagrams within the text, but shall indicate the desired location for insertion by means of a paragraph. For example: (location for figure no...) or (location for table no..). The name of patients shall be concealed on all illustrations, patients in all photos shall have a black band over their eyes in order prevent their identification. In case where reproduction of previously published images is intended, it is necessary to attach the written consent of the author and of the publishing house where it was prior published, including the source. All prospective or experimental papers involving human subjects shall include the agreement granted by the medical ethics committee of the institution where the research was conducted. Papers submitted to the Romanian Journal of Hepatology for publication shall be drawn up in Romanian and English. 3. Structure of the manuscriptTitle page (on a distinct page) including: title of the paper, full name of the authors, department and institution(s) where the study was conducted, postal code, city, district, phone and/or fax number and/or e-mail address for contacting the first author, full postal address for correspondence and ordering reprints. Abstract (on a distinct page) will precede the body text. In case of original articles, abstract shall not exceed 250 words and shall have the following structure: 1) aims; 2) patients and methods; 3) results; 4) conclusions. In case of literature reviews and educational papers, abstract shall not exceed 250 words. For case reports, the abstract shall not exceed 100 words and shall underline the following structure: 1) purpose of the presentation; 2) particularities of the case; ranking of the issue approached within the general knowledge of the respective condition. Three to five key words shall be selected for every paper from the Index Medicus; such key words shall be inserted after the abstract. Footnotes related to the article shall be indicated by an asterisk. Footnotes related to the body text shall be numbered according to their occurrence in the text. Introduction shall define the topic of the paper and shall present the stage of the current knowledge in the field. The patients and methods section shall describe the group of patients studied, the equipment employed and the methodology. The statistic analysis methodology used shall also be described. The results section shall concisely present the data obtained, preferably in tables and diagrams. The discussions section shall include interpretation of own results from the perspective of the relevant data in the literature. Conclusions of the paper shall be clearly stated in the end. References shall include only works that are quoted in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. References shall be numbered in Arabic numerals according to their occurrence in the text (where they shall be inserted between square brackets [ ]) and shall be listed in numerical order. Titles of medical journals shall be abbreviated according to the index Medicus. All authors shall be quoted for an article, if they are up to six. Over seven authors, only the first three shall be quoted, and their names shall be followed by the "et al" indication. References should be listed according to the following format (examples):

Sending manuscripts for publicationManuscripts shall be mailed in three copies (text, photos, tables and diagrams), accompanied by a copy on a 3.5" floppy or CD in Word '97 format or earlier version. The images shall be also delivered in electronic format (tiff or bmp). Both manuscript and floppy disk or CD shall be mailed to the following address: Dr. Camelia Ionescu, Fundeni Clinical Institute, 258 Fundeni Street, II, 22328 Bucharest, Romania, carrying the specification for the "Romanian Journal of Hepatology". The documents sent for publication shall not be returned to the authors. Manuscripts in electronic format.
